  12. dualstandard, October 22, 2007 at 06:01

Krust – Future Talk?? nope.. Clearly you don’t own much of the Headz back catalogue.. It’s Blue Skies matey.. nice one on the rest though!

  13. briggity brack, October 22, 2007 at 11:15

anyone notice tha massive cockup about 2:30 in, its disgraceful

  14. ac, October 22, 2007 at 15:00

Wha about the 19th .. Best sound in the mix imo

  15. mr kovert, October 22, 2007 at 17:34

have to say the mixing is shocking on this……..some good tunes…as you’d expect..

  16. Lekke, October 22, 2007 at 19:00

shocking…ly good for goldie, you mean :)

  17. mario lopez, October 23, 2007 at 04:25

That Diablo ever coming on Metalheadz? Seems like taking forever, or it is an MP3 only release?

  18. dualstandard, October 23, 2007 at 05:49

Since when is Goldie supposed to be a good dj? Good tunes, yes.. good mixing.. no. He has, however, earned the right to at least 5 or 6 trainwrecks per set ( hour )..

  19. mario lopez, October 23, 2007 at 08:10

I second that email. A lot of cock sucking here because, well, he’s Goldie innit.

  20. Bonz, October 23, 2007 at 13:42

Goldie always pulls it off live, obviously yes he’s not the most technically astute dj around but he makes up for that with tune selection. Thanks for putting this up.

  21. Barney Trouble, October 24, 2007 at 01:42

You call that a disgraceful cock-up at 2.30??

You have no idea mate. Goldie is 10 times the dj (beatmatching-wise) than he used to be back in the Blue-Note days.

As ever though, impeccable taste, with a healthy dose of disrespect for the dub-plate mentality that dominates too many dj’s sets.

  22. Barney Trouble, October 24, 2007 at 01:53

Track 19 sounds like Instra:mental style.

  23. signalsx, October 24, 2007 at 02:55

I’ve always heard he was a wreck on the tables but he did very well here in Phoenix, very tight and great selection. Good mix here. Ups to BB!

  24. dualstandard, October 24, 2007 at 15:11

the thing is, Goldie quite simply doesn’t care about that stuff. I’ve heard him on a few times but even a stopped clock shows the right time twice a day.
Neither do most of the big boys to be honest. The only “big” dnb dj who is consistently on is Andy C I guess and in my opinion Friction does his schtick better and with more diversity. Grooverider = sloppy, Fabs has gotten better for sure but most of them are uninspiring djs technically. Still great tunes.
Which is the primary difference between ‘big’ house/techno djs and ‘big’ dnb djs. Those guys are whats called ‘professionals’.

  25. invader, October 24, 2007 at 16:57

dualstandard:PLEASE don’t compare mixing house with mixing dnb!!!
    ffs

  26. elle rollo, October 24, 2007 at 17:50

Tis completely different mixing but I agree – alot of the big dnb djs mixing leaves alot to be desired. Intalex new Fabric live mix is a great example of an almost perfect mix along with alot of Bukems progression session cds.

The big dogs know when to drop the tunes at the right time plus have alot of exclusives which makes seeing them special….Rider is defo not what he was in 98!! But dont forget that everyone has an off night once in a while ;-)

  27. dualstandard, October 25, 2007 at 15:59

invader: why? you seem to think that mixing dnb is in some way more difficult than house or techno. I would disagree. I’m not trying to get into a debate over technical mixing with you but how exactly are they that different? Keep in mind that I learned to dj playing dnb..

  28. Bonz, October 25, 2007 at 16:18

This probably has more to do with how over-run the dnb scene seems to be with dinosaur-like djs; it’s the same line-up at all these big nights as it was years ago. House is a hell of a lot more wide-spread than dnb, hence more competition between djs, which means they still actually give a shit about the technical side of it. Not that I’m bothered by that  gwan the golden one

  29. Baltimore Dank, October 25, 2007 at 19:08

    …..

WTF are yall talking about, house has always been more widespread than jungle, and mixing jungle well has always been hard…hearing goldie play is always hot….only people who would deny this is internet junglists…

i havent even heard this set, mainly because I dont wanna be pissed if there’s talking and shit during the set

question, is this just a set, or is there commentary after every song or couple songs…

  30. Knownbrand, October 26, 2007 at 10:00

A little dickey bird told me that Andy C represses his vinyl so they’re all the same speed. But don’t don’t take my word for it. Take the dickey bird’s.

  31. Rollo, October 26, 2007 at 10:10

yes and has tunes edited especially for the double drops..

  32. Rollo, October 26, 2007 at 10:11

who cares about andy c… really… what he plays does not interest me.

  33. ed.lit, October 26, 2007 at 18:44

this is everything i love about drum and bass. great tunes, SWARM even, and i hate to say the vibe word, but what a night.

where the hell are my metalheadz DC shoes?

  34. joe, October 27, 2007 at 13:08

goldie is like jj frost, neither can mix for toffie, but tune selection is twice as good as other djs.

  35. LedFist, November 6, 2007 at 17:40

Why are there fools slagging off the skills of the some of the main men in this scene. “Grooverider=sloppy, Fabio has got better”. These 2 basically pioneered the hardcare jungle techno movement as it was then, amazing & rocking dance floors back in 90, 91. I know i was there.
When Goldie brought out ‘inner city life’ & ‘Timeless’ it totally changed the sound of jungle.
Come on guys, sort it out!

  36. Bonz, November 7, 2007 at 21:19

There are plenty of djs who are far better technically and selection-wise than grooverider at the moment. doesn’t matter what he pioneered back in the day, he’s not dong the business now and that’s what counts.

Thats why I respect goldie and fabio massively – for moving with the times but sticking to their original vibe.

  37. mario, November 9, 2007 at 14:18

Still curious on that Diablo ever coming on Metalheadz? Seems like taking forever, or it is an MP3 only release?

  38. ryzen, November 12, 2007 at 15:31

    Whats track 19?

    GROOVERIDER = SLOPPY?!!!!!

  40. Mr. Lion of Judah, November 16, 2007 at 15:05

GROOVERIDER SLOPPY…GROOVERIDER SLOPPY WTF!!!!! Since WHEN?????

Since WHEN was Grooverider ever sloppy. I mean i’ve seen the guy dj before and everytime i’ve heard him play – the tunes he was mixing and selecting was fucking BLOODCLOT RUDEBOY NUTTABROGGIN!!! I mean the badman is a Dj god who demands the “R-E-S-P-E-C-T”. Grooverider is only one of the few special Dj’s outthere who was into and not only “Godfathered” the good old Jungle days from 91′ to 96′ with the Golden year of the Jungle era along side other legends like Nicky Blackmarket , Remarc, LTJ Bukem, Paradox, Fabio (another Godfather)

If Grooverider didn’t mix House (alittle bit of Techno) and Hardcore Dub music from the late 1960′s and early 70′s from Nottie Roots Jungle (lion) Reggae bands like Rockers Crew 1976′s.

THERE WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN A MUSIC CALLED “DN’B” PERIOD

  41. Mr. Lion of Judah, November 16, 2007 at 15:06

So please sir….What what you say about Black Dj’s and Producers who are the ones responcible for bring you ROOTS into the Culture.

    I and I is the Lion….Respect positivity…….Reject Negivity.

Respect the REBEL….AND REJECT THE DEVIL!!!

    You don’t know…..BOOM!

Sorry for de third post tim! :-)

  42. mr sharp, November 16, 2007 at 18:41

SO WHAT IF A DJ BLOWS IT IN THE MIX, AT LEAST U KNOW ITS LIVE & AT LEAST THE DJ HAS GOT THE BALLS TO WORK THE MIX BACK TO STANDARD!!!! NO ONE IS PERFECT,SO JUST RESPECT THE SCENE FOR WHAT IT IS & IF U CAN U DO ANY BETTER……………………….I REST MY CASE. BIG UP GOLDIKUS,FABIO,RIDER,BUKEM,DOCSCOTT,BAILEY,STORM,INTALEX,CALIBRE,HIGHCONTRAST,ANDYC,FLIGHT & ALL THE REST OF THE HEADZ FOR GIVING US A SCENE THAT IS CONSTANTLY EVOLVING. PEACE

  46. James Davies, November 28, 2007 at 19:56

yeh i need to know what number 11 is looking for it everywhere!

  47. anton seats, December 6, 2007 at 12:24

pretty sure it is a seba tune, goldie played it on his podcast earlier in the year and said it was seba. I think it may be called ‘imperial moment’. possibly. I want it too it is fucking bad ass!

  48. sean, December 23, 2007 at 20:09

    11. = seba – seacops ..forthcoming on metalheadz apparently..

  49. Chiral Anomaly, February 11, 2008 at 18:53

Hey Sean, how did u find out the name of that Seba tune? Is it on another mix somewhere. If so please tell.
