FIZZY Xmas Payback Special 2011, Friday 2nd of December // 10pm – 6am @ Rhythm Factory, 16-18 Whitechapel Road, E1 1EW
A line-up to die for. The Fizzy Beats Crew got em all under one roof for their XMas Party. Recorded live from the Rhythm Factory, London on the 2nd of December 2011. Large up to Mr. Joseph and everyone involved. Happy new year to all Breaksblog Fam-O.
Metalheadz presents first in a series of old skool events to celebrate the rich history of drum’n'bass and other forms of electronic music. The dj’s have been requested to dig as deep and as far as possible. So we invite you to come and join us to what should be a classic night full of timeless music.
These are the recordings from last Saturdays “Metalheadz History Session” which took place at Cable, London. Some goosebumps inducing rare sets from Marley Marl (DJ Marl) & Clarky included. The untouchable, raw and flavoursome sound aesthetics of 90s Jungle/Drum and Bass.
With Goldie donning his speedos and heading off on a tour of Australia, rather than try and fill his considerably large trainers, we have thrown a brilliant twist into a classic Metalheadz night by inviting none other than legendary Reggae selector David Rodigan to headline – the man whose services to the genre have earned him an unofficial knighthood by the music press. He’ll be joined by Breakage, Marcus Intalex, Commix and more in the main room. Drum & Bass meets dancehall in this one-off and very special Metalheadz party.
Commix warming up for Rodigan followed by contemporary selections from Lenzman followed by Marcus Intalex b2b Klute. Hosted by Oldschool MCs Justyce and Moose. Interesting stuff.
Here’s my set from Rupture last week … tunes from Sinistar, Jubei, Double O, Gremlinz, Nolige, Rumbleton, Skitty …
A big smile, tight mixing and heavyweight selection – this is Mantra live at Rupture, Cursica Studios, London. Dubwise amen pressure and beyond alongside the charismatic Double O and Fuzz on MC duties. The vibes are here but if you don’t like yelling MC’s you will be better off grabbing her only 2 weeks old promotional studio mix.
Half a year old but easily the recording that got me the most exited and goosebumpified so far this year. Africa HiTech (Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek) roll out an amazing selection of Music from Soul, Funk and HipHop to Juke, Steppers -Dub- step, Grime, Jungle / Drum and Bass – pretty much any subgenre of Bass Music i can think of. Their Debut Album “93 Million Miles” is out now but i dont think i like it as much as these 140 minutes of musical bliss, played live at Deviation, London.
Check our Soundcloud page for a fresh selection from the Soul:r boss, representing for Red Bull Music Academy at Klub K4 in Slovenia.
Full on, rusty ol’ dancefloor rinseout selection by Marcus Intalex (Soul:R), live from the RBMA Session Afterparty @ Klub K4, Ljubljana, Slovenia. No MC.
If you dont like MC’s, skipping needles and rewinds you probably better skip this one. If in contrast you love the sound of acetate, are a fan of reinforced, function, bassbin or foundation x you should be all over this. I for my part would most surely have been brocking out in tears of joy right there. More sets live from Rupture @ Corsica Studios, London are to be found over at soundcloud.com/rupture. Rough, rugged and full of vibes.
