Perpetuum drops a HQ recorded Mix with loads of excellent Drumwork and shaking Bass. Mostly heavy tuneage but watch out for loads of souled out yet rolling bits aswell… Don’t miss out!!
Official Info:
Hailing from Norfolk, VA, USA, Perpetuum has already made a name for himself in many DnB circles, even though he has only been producing seriously since 2002. He got bit by the DnB bug back in 1996 (the Wax Doctor remix of Alex Reece’s classic “Basic Principlesâ€), and it has stayed with him through today. With his background in playing live instruments (bass, guitar & drums), he brings a different vibe to the scene, employing his live roots to certain tunes, which also enables him to better play with certain elements of tracks, and switch up the flavor to suit the mood. His style is unorthodox by design, but it has a certain synergy and bridges the gap between the classic “Blue Note†era and the more aggressive, “B-Boy†style of DnB that his HORSEMEN affiliates are providing to the masses.
He burst onto the scene as a relative unknown, getting his first bit of shine with a tune entitled “Claustrophobia†on Gasm. He was asked to provide a sample pack so that the one like Mutt could rework his tune, and in sending Mutt a track entitled “Beigeâ€, his ascent from no one to the one the HORSEMEN want to get to know was quick. Mutt passed this track to Loxy, who then enlisted Perpetuum to remix “Jinnel Killa†(which he reportedly knocked up in two days, giving him “Jedi status†with the one like Loxy), which lead to him putting out his first solo 12â€, “Urban Afterglow†b/w “Big Star†for Ink’s Colours Audio. This release garnered some much-deserved praise throughout the scene, as this rising star went from the middle of nowhere to being affiliated with not only Loxy & Ink’s HORSEMEN crew, but with labels such as Freak, 13 Music, Renegade Hardware, Renegade Recordings, X-Tinction Agenda, Architecture, Horizons Music, Spearhead Recordings, Gasm, Translation and many others.
His future is looking bright, currently. He has tracks lined up for the following labels: “Villainsâ€, his collaboration with FRISKe, as well as “Beige†are set to drop on the upcoming “Revelations†LP for Renegade Hardware; “Dollar and Change†with Gremlinz is set to drop on Architecture; a bit with Loxy, “Freedom†is looking towards Renegade for its home; his number with Aspect, “Bleeps†is coming out on Freak; the aforementioned “Claustrophobia†and “10s†are set to drop on Gasm; a tune that is a tribute of sorts to DJ Shadow, “A#<6â€, is set to drop on Horizons Music; the long-awaited release of “Obscura†should be dropping on 13 Music; “Soulickâ€, a track he created with Mutt, is due out on Spearhead in the future; and he also has remix work coming soon on Translation, and a number of dubs and other complete masterpieces ready to be heard.

boh!!!
huge ups to perpetuum – if ever is the lick.
perpetuum’s tune ‘urban afterglow’ was one of favorites of this past summer, and i knew little of this producer… cool to see he’s from the USA.
urban afterglow was definitely one the liquid funk tip, but this mix looks like an interesting mix of light-and-dark tunes. cool !
20th minute so far, decided to post a comment already.
rollin’ rollin’ rollin’. love It.
big up poland, queens, brooklyn, and all new jersey dnb scene.

@somewhere.kid – yeah defo agree with ya that urban afterglow is a hidden treasure :-)
flood or the other gay bar?
Perpetuum is nice – Obscura and Survivor are pretty tight tunes.
@Ed.Lit – its the ‘Bush lol
All this limewax stuff is fucking shit.. I mean comeon people this is aphex twin bullshit for angry people to say they like as some kind of ‘fuck u’ statement to everyone else.. but its shit.. like 100 robots all going wrong at the same time while a box of pots and pans fall down the stairs… DREADFUL
rest of the mix is ok tho
ok kraal, it seems you don’t like limewax tunes, but saying it’s “aphex twin bullshit” or comparing his music with robots dancing is rediculous and just shows your ignorance.
yes clearly I am ignorant because I dont like some music. And of course I hear robots malfunctioning (dancing???) all the time so clearly I was being serious there.. twat
you just dont get it. its not bout the robots you idiot. you compare his music with aphex twin and think it’s made for angry people.. that’s just a stupid point of view.
LOL. I love it when folks don’t like a particular bit of music and can’t articulate why, so they say it’s poorly produced etc etc.
Kraal… mate… it’s enough to say you don’t like it. No need to get nasty. You can see that it just makes other people repond in kind. None of that is cool. Like what you like and forget the rest. No need for fighting.
Listened to this all the way thru just now and I really like it… a bit too heavy and industrial in places but on the whole its f*ckin quality. Always good to hear stuff by Loxy, Ink, Spirit.. etc and the new(ish) artists like Perptuum himself, The Fix, Chino & Will Miles are a breath of fresh air in a sometimes stale scene.. QUALITY!
Yeah…I’m sooooooooo angry cuz I used a Limewax tune in a mix filled with soulful, uplifting tunes. ;) Kraal, shut up. You don’t like the mix, fine, don’t listen to it. But seriously…fuck off if you’re gonna trash the mix because of one or two tunes. Thanks, and have a nice day.
To the rest of you who enjoyed it, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. I stand behind every tune I write and every tune I mix and make absolutely no apologies for putting what I put in anything I do. :)
big big ups aaron, stateside crew doing big things
BOH! yeah boi, s’what i’m talking about! dope to see you on this site bro!
