Metalheadz presents first in a series of old skool events to celebrate the rich history of drum’n'bass and other forms of electronic music. The dj’s have been requested to dig as deep and as far as possible. So we invite you to come and join us to what should be a classic night full of timeless music.
These are the recordings from last Saturdays “Metalheadz History Session” which took place at Cable, London. Some goosebumps inducing rare sets from Marley Marl (DJ Marl) & Clarky included. The untouchable, raw and flavoursome sound aesthetics of 90s Jungle/Drum and Bass.
Not an all-anthem bashing mix but the real deal. Two hours of proper deep floor movers and shakers selected and mixed by the one and only DJ Aaron Jay (Influence Records, Swerve). Essential for all connaisseurs to reminiscence, new producers and fans to take notes, be inspired and get your swerve on to. Don’t miss.
“Something We Can Do” features 15 previously unreleased tracks from some of the most revered names in the world of Drum & Bass and Dance Music today. 100% of the profits from the sales of the album will be donated to the Japanese Redcross to aid and assist the unfortunate victims of this tragic event. The album is available digitally from our bandcamp shop and iTunes and will be available on Beatport very soon.
Japan is in trouble and you can help by buying this superb compilation of tracks. “Mastered by Beau Thomas at Masterpiece studio, UK.” Buy it here.
It’s a well documented fact that DJ Marky has one of the most powerful vinyl libraries in DnB. Ranging all the way back to the genres origins, there are some volumes of sheer quality waiting to be unleshed upon the world once again.
In case you have missed those, here are both of DJ Markys “Jungle Classics” Sets recorded mid and late 2010. Happy New Year everyone.
Matt and I wanted to give a little flavour of where we’ve both come from musically. Although our early musical tastes were quite different, we found a lot of common ground once we got into D&B. We’ve both been avid collectors of D&B since 1995 and it’s always fun to go back through and have a play around with some of our older records.
Nu:Tone and Logistics just had their “New Technique” EP released which is imho the best release on Hospital since a couple of years. Celebrating the release the brothers from Cambridge rolled out this “Influences” Mix for KMag Podcast featuring plenty of superb Drum and Bass tunes from past times. Excellent selection!
Up next is probaly a 12″ on Darkestral. a 12″ on Beaten Track and a 12″ on Drop Records that is a new sub label of Alphacut Records. Hopefully i manage to finish a few tracks that have been promised to other labels as well. I have also started a deep house project with a friend from Berlin, so expect more and more house and techno from Felix K in the future. (Full interview at organicbeats.co.uk)
Another lesson in early jungle by jack of all trades – Felix K. Check out part 1 if you like this. Earn 1000 oldschool credits if you can do a tracklist for this. ;)
Vintage time! A mix by Bal (Influence, Vampire) entitled “Gold Soundz”? Yes indeed this is some oldschool treat by the man from Budapest rolling out the music that back then was known as “atmospheric” drum and bass. Some extra smooth blast with beats and blops from 1995 and beyond that you should not miss out on.
