  1. is it just me or do the stabs in Special Place sound a lot like the ones in Let’s Get Dirty performed by Redman

  2. cordani when did you become the critical voice of drum and bass dissing a solid and improved label – garbage? listen to the radio 1 for that. this is as far from garbage as you can get. big up sub focus. running tings 2005.

  3. -DJ tectonic – People are entitled to their opinion damnit!
Its people like you, people who are so against anyone speaking out against their d&b ‘heroes’ that they allow the quality to slide, allowing alot of shit music to be released.

If a producer or label is releasing lots of crap its our duty to voice this is we think its bad, are we just supposed to keep patting these people on the back and saying ‘wicked tune mate’ even when its rubbish???

I love all the styles of d&b but some of Rams output has been below par recently. thats my opinion…
The whole pendulum/ subfocus sound is excellent, but I can see why some people dont like it, and I couldnt take a whole set of just this sound, thats why DJs need to play tunes from across the board.
    open your minds

  4. thx strafe… like you say, i could deal with 1 or 2 of these joints in a set but an hour mix of soley those ram-style synths is way too much.

tectonic- “solid & improved label” ?!?!
ram does does get props for laying down some serious tunes back in the day but there is no way you’re gonna make me believe this label has improved as it’s gotten older. any of the material they’ve put out in the past 5 years cannot come close to something like the titan e.p. which i felt was the pinnacle of their sound.

you can feel differently than i do- it’s alright!

  5. yeah, and let’s go crazy and mix everything
    — and I mean everything — with “the nine”

this absolutely doesn’t make any sense, I know!
but some geezer told me this lately and I can’t
get it out of my head! lol

  6. Wow its a convention of shit producers.I like 2 of pendulames tracks though, that love insane track is funny man the intro sounds like something youd hear at a wedding.Wont even go there with baron he is embarassing to listen to.Yep what did happen to ram?shame but lots of decent labels still doing it,maybe check out new metalheadz if u like it hard but not cartoonish.

  7. what are you talking about. Ram are on form. This is the insane creativity burst which was needed. As much as i absoloutely love old ram as well as the simple dark tones we still see with clipz, generation dub, die etc. the scene needed more deeply layered sounds with more experimentation. Otherwise it’s all gonna stay stagnant which over time you’d lose the thrill from the new track sounds. Where would we be without producers like fresh that show us new amazing forms of drum n bass, and looks like sub focus has the similar talent for innovation.

  8. one mans shit music is another mans symphony, ppl are more than entitled to there opinions, but some ppl seem to have more critisism than compliments, its those ppl who should get out of this scene imo. is a nice mix, sub focus isnt really my cup of cha, but its only an hours worth cos its the breezeblock, check out other breezeblock mixes, theyre all mostly the dj/producers own stuff, i doubt sub focus would play a set like this in a club. get me.

  9. yea, this is true woozie.

Even if you like or dislike, it’s only a good thing to be shown different approaches to drum n bass, good for all of us, means there’s more choice for say when your not in the mood for a particular style. Just like how you can like liquid producers/djs as well as the hard hitters. Chill out a bit and just appreciate dnb

  15. “verano”?????what the hell is this….i like a lot…big tune!!!!!
    big big up sub focus

  16. People! all this arguing and no one is noticing this special place tune! i put it on cd and played it in bar:me in milton keynes, everyone went mad for it!!! pendulum style coming out the sub focus team, these two groups are really something to watch out for cus i truly believe they are going to change drum and bass in the best way. n e info on release of “special place” please get in contact with me asap on djsemeye@hotmail.com http://www.ssforce.co.uk

  17. MAN, all those that oppose Subfocus are nonses. This is one of the smuttiest sets i have ever heard, i cant believe radio was even worthy of a set like this. i might start listening to radio 1. Im glad some others felt the flamenco tune, really nice blend, i need the single. and mysterons was also pretty hefty, had a real nice scarcastic sound, just the way i like my d&b. I agree with youDJ Semeye, pendulum and subfocus are brining something new to the party, a sort of style i cant even categorise. i need this flamenco track.

  18. Can someone please upload the file so i can download it, it wont let me use megaupload for some reason!! Thanks! JOE

  19. I think peeps are put off this sound because of the digi revolution. one thing i will say is this sound has been born with the coming of digital production, its like listening to cds vs vinyl – the sound is too perfect if that makes sense. hate or dont hate i think this geezers really clever it still amazes me sometimes the skill that goes with creating tunes lets be thankful theres people willing to put so much effort into drum and bass espec. with the fact most of the tunes they make can be downloaded for free… not mentioning any names R@Yd!
